THE SHORT ANSWER
The Saucony Peregrine 13 replaced the Peregrine 12 in February 2023 and gave back some of what the strip-down took. Two millimetres more stack at both ends, a softer PWRRUN formula, and a better-built upper that Doctors of Running called the best-fitting Peregrine. Believe in the Run went further and called it the best Peregrine yet.

Refined, same shoeThe make-good for the 12, and briefly the consensus best Peregrine: Believe in the Run said exactly that, Doctors of Running called it the best-fitting one and one of the few that felt like a trail racing shoe. The undertow was familiar. Some owners found the recut sole slipperier than the old pattern, others had the under-heel wedge disintegrate, and the laces stretched. Reddit moved up only to 55 percent, still below the 10, because this line's owners grade on durability and the 13 did not fix that.
Stick with the Peregrine 12 if
- The 12's firmer, closer ride suited you; the 13 is softer and a touch taller
- You liked the old lug pattern, which some owners found grippier than the recut 13 sole

Warmer but wary. The praise is real, and so is the mileage on the other side of the ledger: one owner logged 2,600 km on a pair, while another had the sole split and quoted other reviews saying the same. The grip complaint is specific to this generation: they changed the sole, and the 13s just do not have the grip of the older ones. And this is the shoe behind the line's one documented hoarding claim, a runner who bought five pairs at markdown when the 14 arrived, though that quote survives only secondhand.
