Hoka Rincon 5
2026Stocked at Amazon9.7 oz · 38/30 mm stack · 8 mm drop
Compression-molded EVA with a MetaRocker profile
The Rincon began in 2019 as Hoka's light, inexpensive do-everything trainer: softer than the Mach, quicker and cheaper than the Clifton, and only 7.7 oz despite a full slab of cushion. Versions 1 through 3 stayed on the same 29/24 mm, 5 mm-drop formula while trying to fix its short-lived foam and exposed outsole. After the 3 launched in 2021, the line disappeared for three years. The Rincon 4 returned in 2024 wider, taller, and more daily-oriented; the Rincon 5 (July 2026, current) completes that migration with an 8 mm drop and a 9.7 oz build. This page tracks the complete numbered line from the original through the current 5.

Most runners skip a version or two rather than buying every update. These compare a version against the one two updates on, with the net change rather than a single step.
We ranked the shoes that ride closest to it (an affordable, rockered daily trainer that now favors stable easy miles over the old line's featherweight versatility) and called out the honest differences.
