THE SHORT ANSWER
The Arahi 7 replaced the 6 in January 2024 at $145. It retained the J-Frame and 5 mm geometry, but exchanged the airy mesh for a zonal flat-knit upper, dual-gusseted tongue, and midfoot ghillies. The fit became snugger and the shoe gained 0.3 oz; the sole was not meaningfully redesigned.

Stay on your shoe, or switch?
Refined, same shoeThe 7 changes the part of the Arahi 6 that least needed changing. Its J-Frame ride remains familiar, but the heavier flat-knit upper narrows the fit and drew more complaints about medial pressure and tongue behavior. It is still the last numbered Arahi with traditional J-Frame support, yet the roomier, lighter 6 is the better expression of that design.
Stick with the Arahi 6 if
- The Arahi 6 fits you; it is lighter, airier, and uses the same support system
- You have a broad midfoot or are sensitive to medial pressure
Move to the Arahi 7 if
- You want the final J-Frame Arahi and prefer a close knit hold
- Your foot moved inside the Arahi 6 upper
Where the Hoka Arahi is now
The line has moved three versions past the Hoka Arahi 6, and the current model is now the Arahi 9 (2026). Measured against your shoe:
- The Arahi 9 is 0.7 oz heavier
- 11 mm more heel stack
- Drop moved from 5 mm to 8 mm
- New midsole foam
- List price up $15
What loyalists said about the update
Mixed. Some repeat buyers appreciated the secure knit and familiar support, while others reported arch irritation, a constricted midfoot, tongue movement, and premature outsole wear. The two-year wait made the minor, polarizing update feel smaller still.

Questions runners ask

- Is the Arahi 7 a downgrade from the Hoka Arahi 6?
- No. Most runners rate the Arahi 7 as the same shoe done slightly better. The changes are real but none of them alter what the shoe is.
- How much heavier is the Arahi 7?
- 0.3 oz heavier in a men's US 9: 9.6 oz against the Hoka Arahi 6's 9.3 oz.

- What is the closest current alternative to the Hoka Arahi 6?
- The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 25. The Adrenaline is the more traditional option: a 10 mm drop, slightly more weight, and GuideRails that make the support easier to feel. The Arahi 9 is softer and centers the foot within an H-Frame, but costs $10 more.
