The complete Nike Invincible lineage

The Invincible was Nike's max-cushion trainer, and the first shoe to put a full-length ZoomX midsole under an everyday runner instead of a racer. The original ZoomX Invincible Run Flyknit (February 2021) was the bounciest shoe most reviewers had run in and one of the least versatile: 39 mm of heel stack, $180, and a stated job of easy miles and nothing quicker. The 2 (2022) changed the laces and the upper and left the ride alone. The 3 (February 2023) was the real update and the divisive one, adding a stability layer over the strobel, widening the heel and switching to a thinner, denser Flyknit that firmed the ride and, for a lot of runners, would not hold the heel down. Then Nike stopped. There is no Invincible 4. The 2025 reshuffle of Nike running left three everyday families, Pegasus, Vomero and Structure, and the all-ZoomX Vomero Plus inherited the job.

This line is discontinued.

Nike discontinued the Invincible after the 3 and never made a 4. Its 2025 reshuffle collapsed everyday running into three families, Pegasus, Vomero and Structure, and the max-cushion job went to the Vomero Plus, an all-ZoomX tier of the Vomero line listing at $180 with 45 mm of heel stack, 4 mm more than the Invincible 3 carried. Believe in the Run marked the launch as a farewell to the much-loved Invincible line. Loyalists who wanted the same bounce without following the name mostly moved to the Nimbus, the 1080 or the Bondi.

Replacing a shoe you bought two versions ago?

Most runners skip a version or two rather than buying every update. These compare a version against the one two updates on, with the net change rather than a single step.

Thinking about leaving the Invincible?

We ranked the shoes that ride closest to it (a soft, extremely bouncy max-stack cruiser built for easy miles and nothing faster) and called out the honest differences.
