The Hurricane 23 replaced the Hurricane 22 in late 2020 at the same $160 list. It kept the PWRRUN+ foam but enlarged the medial post, swapped the flimsy jacquard upper for a structured engineered mesh, put full-length carbon rubber on the outsole, and trimmed 0.2 oz to 11.4 oz.

Same PWRRUN+ foam, but a bigger post, a structured upper, and full carbon rubber underneath gave the 23 back the stability the 22 had traded away for softness. Doctors of Running's testers, who had doubted the shoe, came away saying it checked every box for a traditional stability trainer with a modern bouncy ride. The costs were the same as before: 11.4 oz, a warm upper, and a post that already read as dated in 2020. Then Saucony stopped making it, which is why this version has a following out of proportion to its changes.

- You run warm and the 22 upper already bothers you; the 23 is only slightly cooler
