THE SHORT ANSWER
The Guide 19 replaced the Guide 18 in March 2026 at the same $140 launch price. It retained the 35/29 mm CenterPath platform and 6 mm drop but reformulated PWRRUN for a softer, more flexible ride, increased XT-900 rubber coverage, and added a plusher memory-foam collar.

Stay on your shoe, or switch?
Changed characterThe CenterPath Guide, made softer. Version 19 keeps the broad 6 mm chassis and unobtrusive guidance of the 18, but trades some of its crispness for flexibility and easy-day comfort while finally adding more durable rubber. That improves the Guide for recovery runs and walking, not for runners who wanted it to become quicker.
Stick with the Guide 18 if
- You prefer the Guide 18's slightly crisper PWRRUN feel
- Your Guide 18 upper fits and its outsole is holding up
- A discounted 18 matters more than extra softness
Move to the Guide 19 if
- The Guide 18 felt too firm on easy or recovery runs
- You wore through the 18's exposed forefoot foam
- You want the plusher collar and broader width offering
What loyalists said about the update
Mixed-positive. Doctors of Running and RunRepeat found a smoother, more versatile shoe, with RunRepeat calling it the best Guide yet; Believe in the Run found it blocky, heavy, and short on energy. The common ground is that the 19 is softer and better protected, but still not a speed-day shoe.
