THE SHORT ANSWER
The Ghost 16 replaced the Ghost 15 in May 2024, after Brooks moved the line to a spring schedule. It kept the price, drop, and fit, and swapped in nitrogen-infused DNA Loft v3 foam, which is lighter, softer, and far better in the cold.

At a glance
- Weight is unchanged
- Drop is unchanged at 12 mm
- New midsole foam
Every spec side by side, with the reason behind each change: Ghost 15 vs 16.
Stay on your shoe, or switch?
Faithful successorThe 16 is the same Ghost with better foam. Same 12 mm drop, same fit, same $140. It also turned out to be the last version of the classic geometry, which has since made it a stock-up target.
Stick with the Ghost 15 if
- Deep clearance on 15s beats the upgrade; the geometry is identical
- You never run in freezing temps, where the new foam shines most
Move to the Ghost 16 if
- You want softer, bouncier foam in the same familiar shape
- You run winters; the 16's midsole barely stiffens in the cold
Where the Brooks Ghost is now
The line has moved three versions past the Brooks Ghost 15, and the current model is now the Ghost 18 (2026). Measured against your shoe:
- The Ghost 18 is 0.4 oz heavier
- 1 mm more heel stack
- Drop moved from 12 mm to 10 mm
- New midsole foam
- List price up $10
What loyalists said about the update
Reviewers called it consistent and familiar, and the only knock was that it plays it safe and runs a touch dull. Nobody had to relearn anything, which is exactly what Ghost buyers want.

Questions runners ask
- Is the Brooks Ghost 15 still available?
- For now. Amazon still lists the Brooks Ghost 15, but the size run is thinning and prices swing with remaining stock. If your size is there, this is the late window, not the early one.
- Is the Ghost 16 a downgrade from the Brooks Ghost 15?
- No. The Ghost 16 keeps the same ride and fixes small things. If you liked the Brooks Ghost 15, the update carries over without an adjustment period.
- Is the Brooks Ghost still made?
- Yes. The current version is the Brooks Ghost 18, released in 2026, 3 versions on from the Brooks Ghost 15.
- What is the closest current alternative to the Brooks Ghost 15?
- The Nike Pegasus 42. The Pegasus covers the same daily-trainer role with a firmer ride, and since the Ghost 17 the two lines share a 10 mm drop. It is the obvious cross-shop in the other direction.
