THE SHORT ANSWER
The Ride 14 replaced the Ride 13 in early 2021 at the same $130. The midsole and outsole carried over unchanged; the update was a softer engineered mesh upper without the printed midfoot dots, plus a refined heel bevel.

At a glance
- The Ride 14 is 0.5 oz lighter
- Drop is unchanged at 8 mm
Every spec side by side, with the reason behind each change: Ride 13 vs 14.
Stay on your shoe, or switch?
Refined, same shoeAs conservative as updates get. Road Trail Run titled its review Not Messing with a Good Thing, and Doctors of Running called it one of the best updates to one of the most popular neutral trainers. The grumbles that would drive the next version started here: testers began calling PWRRUN firm and dated next to newer foams.
Stick with the Ride 13 if
- The 13's upper fits you fine; underneath they are the same shoe
- Clearance 13s are cheaper for an identical ride
Old stock is gone; see alternatives below.
Move to the Ride 14 if
- The 13's printed midfoot overlays pressed on your foot
- You want the softer mesh and cleaner heel landing
Where the Saucony Ride is now
Four generations separate the Saucony Ride 13 from the Ride 19 (2026), so the gap is wider than any single update suggests:
- The Ride 19 is 1 oz lighter
- 10 mm more heel stack
- Drop is unchanged at 8 mm
- New midsole foam
- List price up $15
What loyalists said about the update
Well received, quietly. By 2021 the firm-and-heavy complaints about PWRRUN were getting louder; Road Trail Run's own panel split between 'among the very best daily trainers' and 'too firm, I wish I loved it.'
