THE SHORT ANSWER

The Mach 7 replaced the Mach 6 in March 2026. It kept the foam and geometry, redesigned the upper around a lower heel counter and a longer gusseted tongue, and moved to a stickier two-compound outsole with much better grip. List price went up $5 to $145.

At a glance

  • List price up $5

Every spec side by side, with the reason behind each change: Mach 6 vs 7.

Faithful successor

The 7 leaves the 6's midsole alone and upgrades everything touching the ground and the foot: far grippier rubber, a better-holding and less bulky heel, $5 more. One reviewer called it just a little cosmetic sprucing, and that is the point. If the 6 worked for you, this is the same shoe with its two weakest details fixed.

Stick with the Mach 6 if

  • The 6 is discounted everywhere as the 7 rolls in, and the midsole is identical
  • You need the 2E; wide availability of the 7 was still spotty as of mid-2026

Move to the Mach 7 if

  • You run in the wet; the new outsole is a step-change in grip
  • The 6's heel collar or tongue bothered you; both are reworked

What loyalists said about the update

Early but positive, around 81 percent across a small set of aggregated Reddit reviews. Praise goes to lockdown and its range up to half-marathon pace; complaints are warmth, foam that reads dull next to plated trainers, and one review crew grading it B while asking what its lane is next to newer super trainers.

Beyond the Mach 7, these come closest to what the Mach 6 did.

Saucony Kinvara 16, men's shoe, side profile
  • 7 oz
  • 4 mm drop
  • 29 mm heel
  • $130 list

The Kinvara is the Mach's longest-running rival: both are light, unplated trainers that double as tempo shoes. The Kinvara sits lower to the ground and runs firmer; the Mach carries more foam.

Against your Hoka Mach 6: 1.2 oz lighter, 8 mm less heel stack, 1 mm less drop, $10 less at list.

Saucony Endorphin Speed 6, men's shoe, side profile
  • 7.8 oz
  • 8 mm drop
  • 39 mm heel
  • $175 list

The Endorphin Speed is the plated version of this job. It costs more and gives back more at pace; the Mach is the simpler, cheaper shoe that handles the same mix of daily and uptempo work.

Against your Hoka Mach 6: 0.4 oz lighter, 2 mm more heel stack, 3 mm more drop, $35 more at list.

Hoka Clifton 11, men's shoe, side profile
  • 9.2 oz
  • 8 mm drop
  • 42 mm heel
  • $155 list

Same brand, same rocker, different mission. The Clifton is the softer, heavier easy-day shoe; the Mach is what Hoka runners buy when the Clifton feels too slow.

Against your Hoka Mach 6: 1 oz heavier, 5 mm more heel stack, 3 mm more drop, $15 more at list.
