THE SHORT ANSWER
The Ghost 14 replaced the Ghost 13 in July 2021. It moved the whole midsole to a single full-length DNA Loft foam, smoothing the two-foam seam out of the ride, and kept the 12 mm drop and $130 price.

At a glance
- The Ghost 14 is 0.2 oz lighter
- 1 mm more heel stack
- Drop is unchanged at 12 mm
- New midsole foam
Every spec side by side, with the reason behind each change: Ghost 13 vs 14.
Stay on your shoe, or switch?
Refined, same shoeThe 14 kept the Ghost's one-speed workhorse character and smoothed it out. Years later this is the version loyalists call the peak of the line, and clean pairs have traded above their original retail price.
Stick with the Ghost 13 if
- You prefer a touch of medial firmness; the 13 was the last dual-foam Ghost
- Leftover 13s show up at closeout prices in your size
Old stock is gone; see alternatives below.
Move to the Ghost 14 if
- You want the smoothest version of the classic 12 mm Ghost
- The 13's segmented forefoot felt lumpy at toe-off
Where the Brooks Ghost is now
Four generations separate the Brooks Ghost 13 from the Ghost 18 (2026), so the gap is wider than any single update suggests:
- Weight is unchanged
- 1 mm more heel stack
- Drop moved from 12 mm to 10 mm
- New midsole foam
- List price up $20
What loyalists said about the update
At launch the 14 read as a faithful, unexceptional update. In hindsight the community crowned it: forum consensus holds that the line went downhill after the 14, and discontinued pairs have sold for more than list.
