The complete Asics Gel-Cumulus lineage
The Gel-Cumulus is Asics' everyday neutral trainer, the shoe that sits a tier under the Gel-Nimbus and has run on a strict annual cadence for two decades. The 21 through 23 (2019 to 2021) were the old Cumulus: FlyteFoam, GEL units, a 10 mm drop, and a reputation for being dependable and dull. The 24 (2022) ended that with FF Blast foam and an 8 mm drop, and Doctors of Running described the result as a traditionally constructed Novablast. The 25 (2023) went taller again on FF Blast Plus and PureGEL, and this is where Asics also changed how it quotes stack height, so the published numbers jump about 13 mm between the 24 and the 25 without that much foam being added. The 26 drew the line's loudest complaints for its toe spring, the 27 walked them back, and the 28 (February 2026) is the current version on FF Blast Max. The Cumulus is the value model in this part of the range: it has listed below the Nimbus and the Novablast in every year here.
